Mystery at the Museum
The 1930s were difficult times for farmers. Not only was there a depression, there was drought and low livestock prices. Farmers were not able to make ends meet, much less make a profit. An organization called the Farm Holiday Association was formed to encourage farmers to stop selling their products until prices rose. Pickets were set up at the ends of towns to stop livestock from coming to market or grain to the elevators. At a picket line near Canby, shots rang out and Nordahl Pederson, a Canby farmer, was killed. Ole Anderson and his 19-year-old son were arrested for the murder. Was it murder or just a terrible accident? Did the Andersons even have anything to do with Pederson’s death. Delve into these events at the Mystery at the Museum coming in August and decide for yourself who, if anyone, was guilty of this death.
